Gucci Kings Slingback Mules Review
A pros versus cons list of the Gucci Kings (and some comparison to their siblings Princetowns and Brixtons):
PRO: Casual luxury is my favorite category of clothing items. So easy to wear. And injecting luxury into your everyday life is really enjoyable. As a casual Californian, I rarely wear high heels so I'd rather spend my money on Gucci loafers than, say, Louboutin strass.
PRO: Black insoles! Reduces the grimey look that is inevitable over time. In contrast, the Princeton mules have beige insoles.
PRO: Very very comfortable! It's so pleasant when beautiful designer shoes happen to also be comfortable. Not an easy feat.
CON: The slingback elastic slips off my heels a lot when I'm walking... which requires frequent readjusting. It's a minor annoyance.
WOULD I BUY AGAIN? Yes, but only because I like the Kings style better than the original Princetowns and Brixtons. I think the Princetowns are too slipper-like… they don't have enough structure for my taste. Whereas the Brixtons have too much structure and lean a little masculine. If this all sounds insanely analytical and neurotic to you, ignore it and just buy what you like. If you too are a neurotic nut job, and understand what I mean perfectly, then get the Kings -- you’ll be happy with them lol.
PRO TIP: Enjoy them in their pure unadulterated state for a week, then get them re-soled with something more durable! Good use of $35 bucks.
